NSLU2 (Network Storage Link USB 2.0)

The NSLU2 is a NAS (Network Attached Storage) fileserver that uses USB Hard Drives for storage. It has two USB ports and an ethernet port. It is essentially a tiny computer (with no screen or keyboard/mouse*) running Linux.

The device runs a modified version of Linux and by default, formats hard disks with the ext3 filesystem, but a firmware upgrade from Linksys adds the ability to use NTFS and FAT32 formatted drives with the device for better Windows compatibility. The device has a web interface from which the various advanced features can be configured, including user and group permissions and networking options.

Like the PSP there has been CFW made for it to allow more than the manufacturers intended purpose.

connet to Since the Xbox has no USB ports but does have an ethernet port, it is ideal for Xbox users. They plug their Xbox into the NSLU2 via ethernet and plugin their USB Devices to the NSLU2 and they may access the USB devices from any Xbox file manager that can access samba or FTP shares.

connet to With CFW one can plug a PSP into one USB port and a USB Device into the other and use USB Hosts to access content, such as homebrew/emulators and ROMs or ISO's, off the USB hard drive.

connet to With CFW the NSLU can be used to setup a ftp server. You install a program and the server's file get stored on the USB Device plugged in.
